Stepping up to the Challenge!

Hollifield issued the challenge and Chad Porter stepped up to the plate and answered the call! Yes folks, Chad has generously agreed to pay for Tyber Creek, all the food, hotel and everyone's bar tab for the Reunion...What a guy! Thanks Chad, I'll be drinking double Crown and ginger's all night thanks to you. Instead of chicken fingers, I'm thinking Gulf shrimp and prime rib! Do I have a second?

Of course, I'm kidding but Chad has generously agreed to put the $150 deposit down for Tyber Creek (if anyone wants a new big screen, ask Hollifield for Chad's information, mine's being delivered next week). Thanks Chad, we all appreciate you shouldering this!!!

Now, in order to make this thing work and make sure he gets all his money back, we need a volunteer to be a Treasurer of sorts to take the money as it comes rolling in once we establish an amount. Other things that we are going to need volunteers for is for someone to head up the invitation list. This will entail getting all emails/mailing addresses for everyone and making sure that we are communicating with everyone. This is something that definitely needs to happen soon since we are down to 2 and 1/2 months and people will need to make plans. If you are interested in assuming any of these position, please let me, Hollifield or Leslie know ASAP. As mention previously, I'm going to be at the beach beginning this afternoon for the next week and do not anticipate being able to be reached unless I can find you in the bottom of a bottle so the other two may be best to contact.

I know that everyone is excited about this and there has been a lot of great ideas and discussion but the time has come for people to step up and shoulder some responsibility. These things don't just come together without a little work. I know everyone is busy with work, families and other obligations, but we are going to need some help to make this successful and a good time. Let us know if there is anything that you would be willing to assist with.

Thanks for everyone's help thus far and for any future help. Let's make sure Chad gets his money back, everything runs smoothly and we have a great 10 year reunion!

Hope everyone has a good Labor Day weekend and please keep those effected by Hurricane Katrina in your thoughts and prayers. If you can, make a donation of some form to a relief agency...every little bit helps.

Ben

This is how I see this happening now:

Get an initial headcount from Leslie on the responses from the Classmates.com blast email sent out by Hovis. We may even want to send out another email from Classmates expressing the importance of people's responses.

Next, we'll have to establish a cost per person based on what we have.

Once we get a cost we'll need to create the evite, using address that we have, that tells people all details including costs, where to send money, where they can stay and the fact that they NEED TO ADD people to the evite (we can leave that option open to the public). Are we also sending out mailed invitiations?

We need someone who will act as treasurer and will keep track of who has paid. Needs to be someone responsible and organized. That way, people can't show up without paying and we can figure out what we can buy besides the rental. We can also pay Chad back, which is first priority. Good part is, we can decide on catering at last minute.

Sound good?

FYI, Tyber Creek is officially booked for Nov. 26th. The time will probably be 7-10pm, although we can change the hours around if we need to. We will look at catering options later on down the road.

Thanks Chad! We owe ya one!

Frank, I'm sorry to hear that. I wish you could make it. Let me know when you will be in town.

I hope everyone has been watching or listening to the news. If you can find some way to help the gulf coast, please do it. I've got some friends with family down there, and they've lost everything. They need all the help they can get.

Frank let me know when you're going to be in NC so we can hook-up. I’ll give you the real scoop on Iraq.

Amy, unfortunately we are very limited with time and funds. If you want a place like Westin, Bentley on 27th, Zink, etc..., you're looking at $3,000-$5,000 for everything, which is impossible to do with such little time and so few people. I have checked on at least ten different locations in Charlotte, and Tyber Creek is the best deal thus far and something that we should be able to afford. If you have a better suggestion, then please let us know. We will take a look at all options, but we need to do it as quickly as possible.

I say we go with the original plan. There always nicer places out there, but like Hollifield said, money is the key driver with time being another factor. I think for this reunion since we are all new at this and don't know what to expect we stick with the original plans since it has pretty much been decided. If we have one in 5 more years, another place can be selected if this doesn't work (and someone else can handle the planning). The main thing is for everyone to get together and catch up...after all, it's better than the Cherryville Country Club. See ya at Tyber Creek!
